A special issue, on Scottish television drama, of Visual Culture in Britain (Volume 18, Issue 3) inspired by ‘The History of Forgotten Television Drama in the UK’ project and drawing on papers delivered at the ‘Television Drama: The Forgotten, the Lost and the Neglected’ conference at Royal Holloway, University of London in April 2015 has been published.
Entitled ‘Scotch on the Box: Television Drama in Scotland, 1952-1990’, the special issue consists of a number of articles on the history of Scottish television drama. These include John Hill’s essay on ‘”Political Fantasy in a Realistic Situation”: The Scotch on the Rocks (BBC 1973) Controversy’ which examines the BBC Scotland drama series about the achievement of Scottish independence following a violent uprising by Scottish nationalists.
