PhD researcher Rose Baker, in collaboration with the Belfast Film Festival and Northern Ireland Screen, will present an archival programme of television material broadcast on Ulster Television from the late-1950s to the late-1960s at the Irish Film Centre, Dublin, on 5 April: https://ifi.ie/film/ifi-bff-northern-ireland-in-the-swinging-60s/. Rose is researching the history of Ulster Televison in the 1960s and, as part of her TECHNE-funded Collaborative Doctoral Award with Northern Ireland Screen and the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, works with newly-digitised content from the UTV archive. Focusing on the social and cultural life of Northern Ireland, the presentation will involve a mix of items revealing how Northern Ireland progressively embraced modernity during the global 1960s.
