A special issue of the Journal of British Cinema and Television ((Vol 20 No3) on film, television and Northern Ireland, co-edited by John Hill and Julian Petley, has just been published. Along with a number of articles on film and television by a range of authors (including Ruth Barton, Charlotte Brunsdon and Brian McIlroy), the issue includes an Introduction by Hill as well as his article on the first television plays to be made in or about Northern Ireland. The journal issue – and details of all contents – may be found here.
To coincide with the issue, John Hill has also posted two blogs on the Forgotten Television Drama website. Entitled ‘Northern Ireland’s Most Wanted: the Lost Television Dramas’, these identify and discuss some of the most intriguing examples of early television drama made in or about Northern Ireland but which no longer survive. Part 1 may be found here and Part 2 here.
